This is not a game, and if the power of those offices falls into the hands of those two Democrats, their positions on matters such as the War in Iraq, missile defence, and matters pertaining to the particularly American sense of the meaning of liberty, may well lead (G-d forbid) to American defeats in the War on Islamist Terror, (G-d forbid) additional deaths and injuries among American serving men and women, serious compromise of American security, and the erosion of fundamental liberties in areas such as freedom of worship, self-defence, gun ownership and hunting, parental rights, and property-rights.

The real question is, what will those of us do who see the extremes of both Right and Left as dangerous? Whichever party you pick, you get a lot of disgusting stuff you don't want on your party plate. And you can't scrape off what you want to discard. It's all mixed in there together.

In fact, such a view underlines the danger of belief in the infallibility of one's own perspectives and disregard for the equally thoughtful perspectives of others.
