Reflections on a House Divided

Waiting to Happen

"The Democratic Party and Barak Obama want to do for America what they've done for Chicago and Illinois, America can't afford that risk."

An ad and a slogan.
 A sky-rocketing homicide rate ,
a sewer of corruption  that stands as an inspiration to grafters and mob guys everywhere, a state government trying hard to follow suite,  deteriorating city services  and  a failing school system.
Are we missing anything?
Yes!
One of the most stressful cities in the entire country .

It should have been no more difficult to make these points and make them stick then it was when then Massachusetts Gov. Michael S. Dukakis ran against George Bush Sr in 1988. Then, the image of the "Massachusetts Miracle" that he had tried to project crumbled quickly in the face of a bit of fact-checking and a good ad campaign:
"Michael Dukakis wants to do for America what he's done for Massachusetts, America can't afford that risk."

And, while we've at it:
"The Democratic Party and Barak Obama wants to do for America what they've done for the American housing market and homeowners, we can't afford more of that kind of risk"

So where is it now?
And, is it too late to put this together?
