I just hope that enough people keep that catastrophe and the current dangers in mind when they vote in this coming election. And, that instead of just ticking the same box they've done all their lives out of habit they - particularly [our fellow] Jews - [will] spend a moment to consider that - the [World] war and Holocaust [were] proceeded by the Munich treaty, appeasement of the aggressors, anti-military feelings and isolationism..., withdrawal, and the illusion that conflict could be avoided if we tried to "just get along."

The veterans and active-duty personnel who have supported the presidential aspirations of John McCain so far, may not be aware that he has advocated for a measure that might leave some of them struggling to avoid spending the rest of their lives behind bars.

It's no news at all that the most crucial and threatening theatre-of-war pertaining to the struggle for a stable Iraq - one that is free, well-governed, and clear of Islamist fighters - is, and has long been, that of public opinion - in Iraq as well as here at home. And, that this is so is in itself a tribute to the courage, skill and tenacity of the American, Coalition and Iraqi forces engaged there. It is also a sad, sorry and ongoing comment on the organizational, rhetorical and Public Relations skills displayed  by those here at home who support those efforts - the author of this article included.

Here are some ways by which that might be changed for the better:

Institutionalized stupidity -- Ones thinking is narrowed by ideological or bureaucratically derived  blinders to the point where one cannot consider even considering alternatives to ones received views.

Prevents otherwise perfectly - or even quite exceptionallyy - sensible people from exercising the common sense that G-d gave them.
What liberals accuse conservatives and Republicans of, and conservatives: liberals and Democrats. And which no one sees in their own reflected visage.

The success that the left has had in its campaign to remove American Troops from Iraq has been astonishing to many - as well as appalling to those who - like myself - believe that actual implementation of that policy would invite immeasurable disaster both here and abroad. The reasons for their - the left's - progress in that dubious project are varied and complex, but central amongst them have been: the skill, depth, breath and flexibility with which their efforts were (and are) organized, implemented and followed thorough on; the simplicity and comprehensibility of their basic message; and - of course - the active complicity of much of the main-stream media in their efforts.

Such was the backdrop of an election characterized by one major news source as typified by --
"Smooth voting and a quick concession by the opposition..." --
Chavez's Venezuela "red, really, red" after vote
They and other such organizations might be forgiven such apparent oversights though, as, so many of the concerns about and criticisms of Mr.Chavez's administration have been voiced by such right-wing sources as the  UN , the AFL-CIO, and the BBC -
and are therefore naturally suspect.
